Years
1986 - 2001
1986–2001 RM80
GenerationThe later RM80 is the liquid-cooled 82cc youth motocrosser with further-developed chassis; the series ends in 2001. The RM85 is its successor from 2002 and does not belong in this generation.
Years
1983 - 1985
1983–1985 RM80 watergekoeld
GenerationFrom 1983 the RM80 gained liquid cooling; these middle years form the transition to the 82cc liquid-cooled youth MX. Assign only at a matching year and do not use RM85 specifications.
Years
1978 - 1982
1978–1982 RM80 luchtgekoeld
GenerationThe early RM80 has an air-cooled 79cc single-cylinder two-stroke. Model year and cooling are essential: this row is not for the later liquid-cooled RM80 and never for RM85 adverts.
About the Suzuki RM 80
The Suzuki RM80 is a youth motocrosser from the RM range, built from 1978 through 2001 and then replaced by the RM85. It is not a smaller RM85: early models use an air-cooled 79cc two-stroke, while later RM80s gained liquid cooling and an 82cc engine. Always check model year, wheel size and cooling, as they identify the generation.

What to check before buying
- Check compression, piston/cylinder and crank bearings; running hours are decisive on a small motocrosser.
- On liquid-cooled models, inspect cooling for bent radiators, leaks and neglected coolant.
- Inspect suspension, linkage, steering-head bearings and wheels for play or cracks after jumps and crashes.
- Check brakes, chain, sprockets and frame for wear; this is a pure off-road machine without road equipment.
