Years
1986 - 1992
The early LS650 Savage uses the large air-cooled 652 cc single with belt drive and a four-speed gearbox. A simple cruiser chassis and small tank keep weight and seat height low.
The Suzuki LS650 Savage is a lightweight single-cylinder cruiser powered by an air-cooled 652 cc single, produced from 1986 to 2000. With only 31 hp and a wet weight of around 168 kg, the LS650 is one of the lightest and most accessible cruisers ever built. The large flywheel gives the engine a relaxed, unhurried character typical of the cruiser style. In the USA it is known as the Suzuki Savage.
The LS650 is ideal for beginners who want classic cruiser aesthetics without the imposing weight of a V-twin. The low seat height of around 710 mm makes it accessible for shorter riders. Maintenance is straightforward thanks to the single carburettor and simple engine layout. Competes with the Honda CMX450 and Yamaha SR500 of the same era. Popular as a base for custom and bobber builds.
