About the Suzuki GT 380
The Suzuki GT380 is an air-cooled 371 cc two-stroke triple produced from 1972 to 1977. Suzuki's Ram Air System directs cooling air over the centre cylinder, while separate CCI oil injection removes the need for premix. Six speeds, smooth delivery and a comfortable chassis positioned it as a middleweight touring sports motorcycle below the GT550 and GT750. Later years received detail changes to brakes, exhausts, colours and emissions tuning.
The GT380 is valued for its distinctive triple sound and manageable size, but proper restoration needs specialist two-stroke knowledge. Measure compression across all three cylinders and inspect crank seals, bearings and CCI pump. Three carburettors must be clean and balanced. Original three-part exhaust systems, Ram Air shroud, instruments and paint are valuable and expensive. Inspect tank for corrosion and frame for old repairs. A long-stored bike needs fresh fluids, brake inspection and potentially crankshaft assessment before use.
