About the Piaggio Piaggio 1
The Piaggio 1 is Piaggio's compact electric city scooter, sold since 2022 as a 45 km/h moped and in faster Active form. Its removable lithium-ion battery beneath the seat can be charged indoors from a normal socket. Battery capacity, motor output, top speed and range differ between the 1, 1+ and 1 Active, so always verify the exact designation and battery label.
The 1 mainly suits short urban trips and riders without a charger where they park. Low mass and linear output make it approachable, but cold weather, sustained speed and battery ageing reduce range. The battery leaves little luggage space. It is simpler and cheaper than a Vespa Elettrica; against NIU and Silence, Piaggio's network and familiar scooter ergonomics are strengths.

What to check before buying
- Read battery health and charge-cycle data and compare capacity over a full test ride; replacement is the costliest item.
- Inspect the battery latch, carrying handle and charging contacts for play, heat damage or green corrosion.
- Test both keys, riding modes, display and charger; faults should not disappear only after reseating the battery.
- Inspect steering-head bearings, fork and wheels for kerb damage and short hard impacts.
- Check brake discs and caliper slides for corrosion or seizure on low-mileage bikes.
