About Motobecane

Motobécane is a French motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1923 in Pantin, near Paris. The company grew into one of the largest motorcycle producers in Europe and was a household name on the French market for decades. Motobécane produced a broad range of mopeds, light motorcycles and heavier machines, including the popular MB series and models sold under the sister brand Mobylette. After financial difficulties, the brand was sold in 1984 and renamed MBK, with Yamaha eventually taking control. The original Motobécane brand is known for its affordable and reliable constructions.

On the Dutch used-motorcycle market, Motobécane bikes are scarce vintage machines, particularly early models from the 1920s through 1950s. Enthusiasts of French motor heritage will find them interesting collectables, but should expect limited parts availability. Contemporary MBK scooters (Yamaha platform) are far more common. Motobécane appeals primarily to historically minded riders seeking a unique piece of French industrial heritage.
