About the Kymco Xciting 250i
The Kymco Xciting 250i is a full-size maxi scooter from the second half of the 2000s. Its liquid-cooled injected 251cc single, large 15/14-inch wheels and twin front discs are aimed at longer journeys than an ordinary city scooter. The Xciting offers a tall screen, generous seating and useful storage, but at nearly 200 kg it is a genuinely heavy machine at walking pace.
It suits a rider wanting automatic transmission for commuting, open roads and occasional motorway use. Do not buy a used example without a test ride: the CVT should work smoothly, steering should feel neutral and cooling should stay controlled in traffic. Pay attention to belt, brakes, fork and bearing maintenance. A well-maintained 250i is comfortable and capable, whereas deferred maintenance can become expensive quickly.

What to check before buying
- Check invoices for variator belt, rollers and clutch; shuddering or slip on pull-away needs investigation.
- Check the cooling fan, radiator and water pump operate correctly in stationary traffic.
- Check head bearings, fork seals and tyres for vibration or unstable behaviour around 80 km/h.
- Inspect every brake disc and caliper; the twin front discs must brake evenly without pulling.
- Check the seat latch, screen mounts and body clips for wear or damage.
