About the Ktm SX-E3
The KTM SX-E3 is an electric motocross bike for young riders (ages 7–10), developed as an electric alternative to the KTM 50 SX and 65 SX. The motor is a PMAC electric motor with a lithium-ion battery pack offering around 45 minutes of riding at normal use. Weight is approximately 40 kg, significantly lighter than an equivalent two-stroke model. Three power modes are adjustable via the companion app to match the bike's behaviour to the child's skill level. A low centre of gravity and compact dimensions make it ideal for the youngest motocross riders.
The SX-E3 is aimed specifically at children making their first steps into motocross or transitioning from a starter model. The low entry height and absence of clutch and gearshifting keep it approachable. No combustion engine also means less maintenance and reduced noise. Compared to the KTM 50 SX and Cobra CX50 it is more expensive to buy but cheaper to run day-to-day. The battery is swappable for extended riding sessions.

What to check before buying
- Check battery capacity (state of health); lithium-ion cells degrade after 300–500 charge cycles, visibly reducing ride time.
- Inspect the battery housing for cracks or signs of moisture ingress; water damage permanently harms the cells.
- Check the charging cable connector for wear or kinking; a damaged cable renders the bike unusable.
- Inspect the front wheel bearing for play; the small bearing size makes it susceptible to wear on rough terrain.
