About the Honda VT 600
The Honda VT 600 C Shadow (PC21) is an air-cooled V-twin cruiser displacing 583 cc, produced from 1988 to 2008, one of the longest-running models in Honda's lineup. The 45-degree V-twin with dual carburettors produces 41 hp at a light 202 kg. The Shadow has classic American cruiser styling with a stretched front end, low riding position and wide rear tyre.
The VT 600 targets beginner and intermediate cruiser riders looking for a reliable, easy-to-maintain entry-level V-twin. The low seat height and forgiving character suit riders of average build. City riding and medium-distance touring are its strengths. The Shadow competed with the Yamaha Virago 535 and Kawasaki EN 500.

What to check before buying
- Check both carburettors for even synchronisation and clean pilot jets; V-twin idle quality is sensitive to dirty emulsion tubes.
- Inspect the primary chain tensioner for wear; rattling on cold start is an early warning sign.
- Check rear tyre and axle nut torque; the wide rear tyre can suddenly lose traction once worn.
- Watch for frame and swingarm corrosion on bikes regularly exposed to rain.
- Check front fork seals for leaks; a known wear point on units beyond 50,000 km.
