About the Harley Davidson SX 250
The Aermacchi-Harley-Davidson SX 250 was the strongest regular SX trail bike, combining a 242cc two-stroke single with a light double-cradle frame and five-speed gearbox. It offers more torque than the 125 and 175, yet remains a 1970s trail motorcycle with modest brakes and suspension travel. Verify numbering, year and the original tank, side panels, mudguards, exhaust and airbox; many bikes were modified for off-road use. Measure compression and inspect piston, cylinder, crank bearings and seals. Establish how lubrication is arranged and test carburation, ignition and charging coils. Lean jetting or air leaks can quickly damage the engine. Inspect frame and swingarm for cracks or misalignment, plus fork legs, shocks, hubs, spokes and drum brakes. Test clutch and every gear with the engine warm. A complete SX 250 is a rare, lively classic; correct parts and documented engine work matter more than fresh cosmetics without evidence.
