About the Gilera DNA 125
The Gilera DNA 125 is a distinctive 125cc scooter with motorcycle-style bodywork, larger wheels and a footrest layout that feels closer to a lightweight street bike than to a conventional step-through. It is not a manual motorcycle: drive is through an automatic CVT transmission. That combination makes correct identification important at viewing; compare frame and engine numbers, registration year and paperwork with the particular machine offered.
It suits a rider wanting a compact commuter or city machine but preferring motorcycle-like ergonomics and styling. Do not expect modern electronics or the luggage space of a conventional scooter. A well-maintained example can be practical, but CVT servicing, brakes, tyres and steering components deserve the same attention as the condition of the plastic body panels.

What to check before buying
- Ask for evidence of variator belt and roller replacement; on a test ride check for judder, slipping or unusually high revs when pulling away.
- Check the forks, steering-head bearings and wheel alignment for play or damage; the motorcycle-style front end makes straight, neutral steering particularly important.
- Inspect brake discs, calipers and hoses for corrosion or seizure, and confirm that both brakes apply progressively and evenly.
- Inspect every body panel, mounting point and lamp unit for cracks, missing clips and poorly aligned accident repairs.
