About the Ducati Paso
The Ducati Paso family introduced a fully enclosed sports tourer styled by Massimo Tamburini from 1986. The 750 Paso uses an air-and-oil-cooled 748 cc two-valve L-twin, while the 906 Paso gained a liquid-cooled 904 cc engine and more power. Both share distinctive bodywork, sixteen-inch wheels and a low, sheltered riding position. The design is historically important, but demands tyre choices and chassis setup appropriate to its original geometry.
First establish whether the motorcycle is a 750 or 906 and verify frame, engine and registration details. Ask about timing belts, desmo servicing, 906 cooling and carburation; many machines were converted from the difficult Weber. Check cold starting, idle, charging output and fairing lights. Inspect plastic panels and mounts for cracks, the tank for corrosion, wheels for damage and bearings for play. Confirm current availability of suitable sixteen-inch tyre sizes before purchase. Complete original bodywork is expensive.
