About the Ducati Multistrada 1260
The Ducati Multistrada 1260 is an adventure motorcycle powered by a 1262cc Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine producing 158hp and 131Nm of torque. Ducati produced the Multistrada 1260 from 2018 to 2021 as the successor to the 1200, offering it in S, Enduro, and Pikes Peak variants. The DVT technology continuously adjusts valve timing for optimal rideability or outright performance.
The Multistrada 1260 targets experienced riders seeking a versatile motorcycle for motorways, mountain passes, and light off-road use. The 240kg kerb weight is substantial, but the lower riding position and optional reduced seat height (820mm) lower the access barrier. It competes with the BMW R 1250 GS and Aprilia Caponord 1200. The Enduro variant adds more off-road capability with a larger front wheel and higher seat.

What to check before buying
- Check cam belt service history: Ducati recommends replacement every 2 years or 30,000km
- Inspect the DVT actuators for fault codes; electronic faults are expensive to diagnose and repair
- Check the fuel pump for signs of wear: early replacement is cheaper than a breakdown
- Ask about clutch wear from heavy urban use: the semi-dry clutch requires periodic adjustment
- Check the suspension (Sachs or Öhlins on S variant) for leaks and correct setup
