GenerationThe 800 Sport is the 803cc air-cooled SS twin in sporty half-fairing bodywork. There is one technical range under this model name; colour, exhaust or accessory package do not create a different engine generation or A2 trim.
About the Ducati 800 Sport
The Ducati 800 Sport is the lightweight 803cc Supersport twin from the mid-2000s. It belongs to the SS family with steel trellis frame, half fairing and a sporting but less extreme riding position than the larger Superbikes. Its name should not be confused with the later SportClassic models: those are separate models with different positioning and design.
The 800 Sport is most attractive to a rider seeking an air-cooled Ducati sports bike without the output or costs of a 900/1000 SS. Buy on service history and the condition of frame, fairing, clutch, belts and desmo valves. Many examples have aftermarket exhausts, mirrors or bodywork; these accessories do not change the technical base and instead warrant a careful check of installation quality.

What to check before buying
- Request proof of timing-belt and desmodromic-valve service, and verify both date and mileage with a Ducati specialist.
- Test the dry clutch for correct engagement, slip and hydraulic leaks; normal Ducati rattle is not the same as clutch slip.
- Check fuel system, intake rubbers and throttle bodies for leakage, ageing and uneven idle.
- Inspect trellis frame, fairing mounts, tank and swingarm for corrosion, cracks and tip-over or track damage.
- Measure charging voltage and inspect regulator, battery, starter relay and wiring for heat, corrosion and poor contact.
