About the Bmw K 1100
The BMW K1100 is the successor to the K100 series, produced from 1992 to 1999. The liquid-cooled 1,093 cc inline-four (mounted longitudinally) produces 74 kW (101 hp) and drives through BMW's signature Paralever shaft drive. Two variants were offered: the K1100RS (sport tourer with half-fairing) and the K1100LT (fully equipped luxury tourer with top box and plush suspension). Both are solidly built long-distance machines with low running costs thanks to the shaft drive.
The K1100 targets touring riders who prioritise reliability and comfort over sportiness. The K1100LT was particularly popular as an Autobahn motorway machine in Germany and the Netherlands. The comfortable two-up seating and comprehensive specification (ride computer, ABS) made it one of the best-equipped tourers of its era. It competes with the Honda GL1500 and (later) Yamaha FJR1300.
