2007–2009 · G 650 Xchallenge
GenerationThe Xchallenge is the serious enduro in the G 650 X series. Its 652cc single delivers 39kW and 60Nm; 21/18-inch wire wheels, 270mm travel and a 930mm seat make it clearly different from the Xcountry, Xmoto and G 650 GS.
About the Bmw G 650 Xchallenge
The BMW G 650 Xchallenge is the off-road-focused member of the G 650 X series, sold from 2007–2009. It shares the 652cc liquid-cooled single, DOHC four-valve head, fuel injection and five-speed gearbox with the Xcountry and Xmoto, but is set up for serious dirt use with 21/18-inch wire wheels, 270mm front and rear travel and a tall 930mm seat. Rear suspension is BMW’s Air Damping System; ABS was optional and switchable. It is neither a G 650 GS/Sertão nor an Xcountry or Xmoto.

What to check before buying
- Verify VIN and full model name as G 650 Xchallenge; do not confuse it with a G 650 GS/Sertão, Xcountry or Xmoto.
- Check the BMW Air Damping System’s air spring, line, seals and adjustment procedure; leaks or incorrect pressure strongly affect ride height and behaviour.
- Check dry-sump lubrication, oil-level procedure, water pump, radiator, coolant and injection for correct service and faults.
- Inspect 21/18-inch wire wheels, rims, bearings, Marzocchi fork, swingarm and subframe for off-road damage and non-original conversion work.
- Check brake discs and calipers; ABS was optional and switchable, so confirm its presence and operation on the individual motorcycle.
