About the Bimota YB 8
The Bimota YB8 is the Yamaha-powered sports line of 1990–1994, centred on the liquid-cooled 1,002cc FZR1000 EXUP inline four. The original YB8 is the base; the 1992–1993 Furano and 1993–1994 Evoluzione/E are separate versions with their own components and designations. The Furano introduced electronic fuel injection within the range, while the Evoluzione is the later version. Keep these models strictly separate from the YB6, YB10 and YB11: the name, period and technical basis belong to different Bimota generations. On every historic example, verify frame, engine and documentary numbers before identifying its trim or parts.

What to check before buying
- Check that the Yamaha EXUP valve moves freely, does not rattle at idle, and that its servo operates correctly; worn bushes can make the valve tick or seize.
- Check the fuel pump and reserve/ignition switch contacts for reliable operation and clean connections.
- Inspect the aluminium Bimota frame, rear suspension/linkage and forks carefully for play, seizure, leaks or damage; correct maintenance and parts support matter greatly on a low-volume machine.
- Inspect the fairing and mirror mounts for cracks or previous repairs; early FZR-related plastic parts are vulnerable.
- Verify frame, engine and document numbers; YB8, Furano and Evoluzione have distinct specifications, and the Yamaha engine year may differ from the Bimota build year.
