About the Bimota YB 11
The Bimota YB11 Superleggera is Bimota's Yamaha-powered sports motorcycle of 1996–1998. It uses the liquid-cooled 1,002cc Yamaha YZF1000R Thunderace inline four in Bimota's own lighter construction. The YB11 replaced the YB8/YB10 line and is therefore not a YB6, YB8 or YB10 with different bodywork. The 1998 YB11 25th Anniversary is an explicitly named anniversary edition within that Superleggera series. On every example, verify frame, engine and documentary numbers before identifying its trim, parts or originality.

What to check before buying
- Verify YB11 identity, production year and Yamaha YZF-R1000 Thunderace engine basis through numbers and documentation. The YB11 is not a standard Thunderace with different bodywork, but a Bimota with its own chassis and installation.
- Inspect the monocoque that forms tank, seat and tail fairing, plus the bolted rear subframe, for leaks, cracks and non-original repairs. This construction is model-defining.
- Check the 51 mm Paioli fork with carbon components, rear shock and all adjusters for damage, corrosion and functioning damping. Ask for service evidence for these Bimota-specific components.
- Inspect the floating 320 mm Brembo front brakes, rear brake, calipers and mountings for even operation and correct parts. Test brake balance only at safe low speed.
