1984 SB4S full fairing
EditionThe SB4S adds the later full fairing to the same GSX1100 technical basis. Only complete SB4S documentation reliably distinguishes it from bodywork fitted later.
Years
1983 - 1984
1983–1984 SB4 Mirage
GenerationThe half-faired SB4 on Suzuki GSX1100/Katana basis. Its strong performance comes from the 1,075cc inline-four in the light Bimota chassis.
About the Bimota SB 4
The Bimota SB4 is the fourth Suzuki-powered Bimota, built in 1983–1984 around the air/oil-cooled 1,075 cc Suzuki GSX1100/GSX1100S Katana inline-four. It combines that powerful engine with a light Bimota trellis frame, 16-inch wheels, Ceriani fork, De Carbon monoshock and Brembo brakes. The SB4 was offered as the half-faired Mirage and the fully faired SB4S; the Suzuki 1100 remains the technical basis.
This is a fast, radically steering 1980s classic for an experienced enthusiast. Its low mass for the engine size and steep geometry give it character, but demand correctly set suspension and tyres. Check original frame and bodywork parts and the required donor-engine modifications: SB4 kits are not a standard Suzuki with different bodywork.

What to check before buying
- Verify Mirage versus SB4S and complete motorcycle versus kit from frame number and period documentation.
- Check GSX1100/Katana engine carburettors, cam chain, charging, oil/fuel leaks and service history.
- Inspect frame tubes, welds, swingarm and engine mounts; donor engines may have been modified for kit assembly.
- Check Ceriani fork, De Carbon shock, 16-inch wheels and Brembo brakes for overhaul and safe operation.
- Inspect bodywork, tank/rear structure and original Bimota aluminium parts closely; they are scarce and value-defining.
