DB7 (2008-2009)
GenerationThe original DB7 pairs the 1,099 cc Ducati Testastretta Evoluzione engine with a lightweight Bimota superbike chassis. Identify it by its full carbon-fibre fairing, Bimota-specific cycle parts and 90-degree V-twin; it is not the later 1,198 cc DB8.
About the Bimota DB 7
The Bimota DB7 is an exceptionally exclusive Italian superbike from 2008-2009. It combines Ducati's liquid-cooled 1,099 cc 90-degree Testastretta Evoluzione V-twin with a Bimota chassis, carbon-fibre bodywork and fully adjustable Marzocchi and Extreme Tech suspension. It is not simply a Ducati 1098 in different bodywork: the lightweight construction, component choice and finish are the reason to seek out this low-volume machine.
It suits a buyer after a sharp, compact sport bike and a collector piece rather than effortless daily transport. The riding position is low and purposeful, while parts are much rarer than for the Ducati donor. A complete record for cambelts, desmodromic valve clearances, set-up and accident history matters more than mileage alone. Also verify that the exhaust, ECU and original Bimota-specific components remain present and compatible.

What to check before buying
- Check invoices for cambelt and desmodromic valve-clearance work by both age and mileage; do not treat the 1,099 cc Ducati engine as maintenance-free.
- Inspect the carbon-fibre bodywork, subframe mounts, steering head and swingarm closely for cracks, crash or track damage and non-original repairs.
- Test every adjustment and look for leaks at the Marzocchi fork and Extreme Tech rear shock; overhaul work and parts can require a specialist.
- Verify frame and engine numbers, exhaust/ECU homologation and the presence of original Bimota parts; replacements are scarce and expensive.
- Check the charging system, wiring and starting system under load, and require documentation for every aftermarket modification.
