2013–2015 BB3
GenerationThe production machine with the BMW S 1000 RR inline-four and a hybrid Bimota frame. It is a scarce homologation machine; verify specification and delivery papers rather than relying on generic S 1000 RR data.
About the Bimota BB 3
The Bimota BB3 is a very small-series Italian superbike built around BMW S 1000 RR's 999 cc inline-four. Following the BB2 concept, the production machine appeared in 2013. Bimota paired the powerful BMW engine with its own hybrid frame of chromium-molybdenum tubes and machined aluminium plates, Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes. The BB3 is therefore not a normal S 1000 RR with alternative bodywork, but an exclusive homologation and collector machine.
It suits an experienced rider seeking a sharply handling litre bike and accepting the cost of low-volume components. Performance is extreme and the riding position is track-focused. Buy on provenance, completeness and maintenance: BMW engine parts are comparatively familiar, while Bimota-specific frame, bodywork, wheels and electronics need a specialist and can involve long lead times.

What to check before buying
- Verify the frame number, production provenance and complete documentation; BB3 production was extremely small.
- Check the BMW engine for fault codes, service history and recall/software status before assessing Bimota-specific parts.
- Inspect machined frame plates, tube joints, carbon bodywork and wheels closely for track or crash damage.
- Check Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes for overhaul status; long storage is not a substitute for documented maintenance.
- Ask about availability of BB3-specific bodywork, frame and electrical parts before purchase.
