Campus 50 LC
GenerationThe Renault-badged Campus LC from the final production years of the Benelli 491 family. Liquid cooling and Campus/Renault branding distinguish it from other Benelli 50 scooters; always verify the type plate and year.
About the Benelli Campus 50
The Campus 50 is the Renault-badged version sold from 2002 in selected European markets alongside the Benelli 491. It is a compact sporting 50 cc scooter with liquid cooling and a two-stroke engine. It therefore belongs technically to the late 491 LC period, while Renault Campus LC badging makes it a recognisable, separate catalogue variant. Production of the 491 family ended in 2003, so always confirm model year, type plate and branding on an advertised scooter.
For buyers, the Campus 50 is primarily a lightweight city moped scooter with distinctive late-1990s/early-2000s sporting styling. Treat it like any liquid-cooled two-stroke: a sound cooling system, correct oil metering and a well-maintained CVT matter more than mileage alone. Do not rely blindly on parts catalogues; Campus, Renault and 491 wording is often mixed together in advertisements and aftermarket listings.

What to check before buying
- Check the type plate and branding: Campus 50/LC, Renault and Benelli 491 are frequently mixed up in advertisements.
- Inspect the radiator, coolant hoses, water pump and coolant for leaks or signs of overheating.
- Check two-stroke oil metering, carburation and cold starting; ask which oil was used and whether the pump remains connected.
- Inspect the drive belt, rollers, clutch and variator for jerky pull-away, slip or unusual engine speed.
- Check connectors, charging voltage, lights and switches for corrosion or improvised repairs.
