About the Benelli Adiva
The Benelli Adiva is the original covered city scooter developed by Benelli with Adiva SRL. It entered production in Pesaro late in 2000 and was sold from 2001 to 2006 with 125 and 150 cc Piaggio LEADER engines. Its defining feature is the metal folding roof: in seconds it folds into the 80-litre rear compartment, alongside a tall screen, side deflectors and windscreen wiper for all-season use.
The Adiva is not a BMW C1-style safety cell: the roof is weather protection only and a helmet remains necessary. The 125 and 150 share the same bodywork but differ in capacity and output. At inspection, check the complete roof mechanism, latches, wiper and drainage. Later AD250 models fall outside this original Benelli Adiva profile; this page deliberately keeps the 125/150 family separate.

What to check before buying
- Open and close the folding roof repeatedly and inspect hinges, latches, gas struts and seals for wear or leaks.
- Test wiper, washer if fitted, lighting and every switch; moisture and ageing wiring merit close attention.
- Check drainage around roof, screen and rear compartment, and look inside the luggage space for damp or corrosion.
- Test variator, drive belt, clutch and Piaggio LEADER engine from cold; also inspect air filter and oil leaks.
- Check front and rear discs, calipers and brake fluid; the Adiva is heavy and both 220 mm brake systems must work properly.
