1978–1981 350 RS

About the Benelli 350 RS
The Benelli 350 RS (Rapido Sport) is the 345.5cc air-cooled inline-four Benelli positioned alongside its larger fours in the late 1970s. It shares the compact four-cylinder architecture with the 354 family, but RS is the earlier, more simply styled version. Sources and registrations agree on displacement, four cylinders, five speeds and production around 1978–1981, yet report conflicting output figures. Power is therefore deliberately not presented as filter fact here.
The 350 RS is a classic small four for enthusiasts of its sound and engineering, not for someone expecting modern performance. A sound motorcycle starts on all four cylinders, runs cleanly through the mid-range and has documented fuel and ignition maintenance. Check especially that RS-specific bodywork and instruments are present; many parts are incorrectly offered as 354 or 500 items.

What to check before buying
- Confirm it is a 350 RS through frame number and RS bodywork; do not confuse it with later 354 Sport/T.
- Synchronise and test all four carburettors; poor idle and a dead cylinder are often set-up or contamination issues.
- Check valve clearances, cam chain, oil level and cold starting on the air-cooled inline-four.
- Test contact-breaker ignition, charging and wiring for age-related issues.
- Do not use a generic power number as purchase proof: sources differ by market and model year, so verify individual type approval.
