About the Benelli 250 Sport
The Benelli 250 Sport name covers two different classic singles and must not be confused with the four-cylinder 250 Quattro or two-stroke 250 2C. The early 250 4 TS Sport belongs to Benelli's pre-war range; the later 250 Sport Special of 1968–1973 is a 245 cc horizontal four-stroke single from the Benelli/MotoBi era.
This page therefore shows two transparent periods. Compare build year, type plate and engine code carefully before ordering parts: an advert titled “250 Sport” is not enough. The Sport Special is identified by its horizontal single and simple classic chassis; the 250 Quattro, 250 2C and modern 250s are outside this profile.

What to check before buying
- Check type plate, engine code and build year; 250 Sport, 250 2C and 250 Quattro are technically very different.
- Test cold starting, oil leaks and even running; the Sport Special is a four-stroke single.
- Inspect carburettor, fuel tank and lines for contamination, leaks and corrosion.
- Test clutch, five-speed gearbox, chain and both drum brakes on a road test.
- Check originality and availability of exhaust, wheels and body parts before restoration.
