About the Benelli 125 2 C
The Benelli 125 2C is a compact Italian two-stroke twin from the 2C family, built by Benelli in several versions from 1972. Its air-cooled 125cc inline twin with two carburettors and a separate exhaust for each cylinder gave this small machine a distinct character, very different from the later four-stroke 124. Benelli, Moto Guzzi and MotoBi shared technology in this period, so frame number and model plate matter for identification.
The 125 2C suits an enthusiast of light 1970s and 1980s two-strokes. It can be an enjoyable classic ride when carburation, ignition and oil supply are correct, but it is not a modern 125. Pay particular attention to corrosion, complete exhaust/bodywork and reliable cold starting.

What to check before buying
- Confirm it is truly a twin-cylinder two-stroke 2C and not the Benelli 124 four-stroke; name and capacity alone are insufficient.
- Test cold starting, both cylinders, carburettor response and oil pump/lines for safe lubrication.
- Check crank seals, compression and exhausts for leaks, seizure history or long-storage damage.
- Inspect wiring, ignition, charging and switches for age-related problems.
- Compare frame plate, tank, exhausts and brakes with the correct early or late 2C version; Benelli/Moto Guzzi/MotoBi parts are often interchanged.
