1997–2000 SR Racing LC DT
EditionThe liquid-cooled SR Racing in DT brake specification: a front disc with a rear drum. Its 50 cc two-stroke and CVT belong to the second SR generation; Racing decals alone do not identify it as the DD version.

1997–2000 SR Racing LC DD
EditionThe liquid-cooled SR Racing in DD brake specification, with a disc brake at both front and rear. It shares the 50 cc two-stroke and CVT with the LC DT, but the rear brake and related parts differ.
About the Aprilia SR Racing
The Aprilia SR Racing is the liquid-cooled 50 cc Racing version of the second SR generation, sold from 1997 through 2000. It has a single-cylinder two-stroke engine with variator/CVT transmission and sporty scooter architecture on 13-inch wheels. Racing here denotes this historic SR 50 version; it is not a modern SR R, SR Motard or SR 125.
This generation was available as LC DT and LC DD. DT uses a rear drum brake, while DD denotes a second disc brake. That distinction matters more for parts and inspection than the paint scheme. As a classic two-stroke, an original restricted configuration, correct oil supply and a properly maintained transmission are generally more valuable than undocumented tuning parts. Always compare the frame number, brake layout and year with the individual scooter.

What to check before buying
- Check oil-pump operation and adjustment, and ask whether the correct two-stroke oil was used; seizure damage often shows as scoring or low compression.
- Inspect coolant, radiator, hoses and water pump for leaks; this is a liquid-cooled version.
- Ask when the variator belt, rollers and clutch were replaced, and look for slipping, rattling or uneven take-off.
- Check the wiring loom, earth connections and charging voltage on an older scooter, especially if the starter or lighting works intermittently.
- Confirm whether it is the DT or DD brake version and inspect the corresponding brakes, discs or drum for wear and correct operation.
