2006–2017 · Derbi/Piaggio D50B
GenerationFrom 2006, the RX 50 received a Derbi/Piaggio D50B engine. It remains a liquid-cooled, six-speed 50cc enduro, but its engine platform is not the same as the earlier AM6 version.

1993–2005 · Minarelli AM6
GenerationRX 50 with the liquid-cooled Minarelli AM6 two-stroke and six-speed gearbox. This is the earlier 50cc enduro family; buy parts and rebuild kits specifically for AM6.
About the Aprilia RX 50
The Aprilia RX 50 is a lightweight 50cc enduro for AM-licence riders looking for a tall seat, long-travel suspension and a narrow off-road style. The name covers two mechanically distinct families. RX 50s from 1993 through 2005 use the liquid-cooled Minarelli AM6 two-stroke with six gears. From 2006 onward, the RX 50 uses a Derbi/Piaggio D50B engine, so parts from the earlier AM6 generation are not automatically interchangeable.
An RX 50 suits short journeys, school or commuting use and legal unpaved routes rather than full motocross use. Always confirm build year and engine type on a used bike: 50cc two-strokes are frequently modified with a different cylinder, exhaust or restriction. The RX is Aprilia’s enduro in the 50cc range; do not confuse it with the supermoto-style SX 50 or the sporty RS models.

What to check before buying
- Use the build year and crankcase marking to establish whether it is an AM6 or D50B machine; parts and rebuild components differ.
- Check the radiator, hoses and water pump for leaks and make sure the coolant is clean; both documented generations are liquid-cooled.
- Test all six gears on a ride; a slipping clutch, poor shifting or an overly loose chain needs investigation.
- Ask which cylinder, exhaust, carburettor and restriction are fitted, then confirm that the configuration is legal, insurable and roadworthy.
- Inspect spoked wheels, bearings, forks and brakes for damage or play after off-road use or falls.
