About this model

About the Aprilia Gulliver LC

The Aprilia Gulliver LC is the liquid-cooled 50cc two-stroke scooter in the Gulliver range. The LC version appeared from 1996 and is documented as a 49cc model through 2000. It has an automatic CVT and an engine with radiator, coolant hoses and water-cooled cylinder; technically it is distinctly different from the air-cooled Gulliver AC. Catalogues list the LC, among other references, as LH040 and output is around 3.2kW/4.3hp.

The additional cooling makes exact version identification decisive for cylinder, ignition and cooling parts. A scooter with Gulliver bodywork is not automatically an LC: check the radiator, water pump, hoses and frame plate before ordering parts. On a used example, the condition of coolant, oil injection and water pump matters alongside normal CVT wear items. A tuned cylinder or exhaust can raise temperatures and create incorrect setup, while also changing legal moped status.

Before you buy

What to check before buying

  • Check the frame plate and the presence of radiator, hoses and water pump: the Gulliver LC is not interchangeable with the air-cooled AC.
  • Inspect the radiator, water pump, hoses, expansion space and coolant for leaks, corrosion and aged fluid; an overheated two-stroke is quickly damaged.
  • Check the oil pump, two-stroke oil tank, lines and carburettor setting, especially where the cylinder or exhaust does not look original.
  • Test the CVT, clutch, belt, rollers, final drive and brakes from cold to hot; watch for high revs without drive or coolant loss.
