1988–1991 ETX 6.35
GenerationThe 349cc air-cooled four-valve single with electric start and six-speed gearbox. The 6.35 is a lightweight all-road machine, not a 635cc model; with a Wind label, verify that engine code and equipment match this ETX generation.
About the Aprilia ETX 6.35
The Aprilia ETX 6.35 is not a 635cc model: the name is Aprilia’s designation for the 349cc air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke, a lightweight late-1980s all-road/travel enduro. The 6.35 has four valves, an overhead cam, carburettor, wet multi-plate clutch, six gears and chain drive. Its electric starter and more road-oriented equipment distinguish it from the earlier ETX 350 even though the engine basis is related.
The well-supported production period runs from 1988 through 1991. Power and weight figures from Dutch registration data are lower than several model catalogues; that can reflect homologation, equipment or registration specification. The full model reference therefore uses the catalogued 24kW/33hp and 146kg dry values, while every individual vehicle should still be checked against its registration and frame plate. It is a simple, useful old all-road machine, but buy it as a classic: inspect the air-cooled engine, electric start, carburation and chassis carefully.

What to check before buying
- Check the frame plate, frame number and capacity: ‘6.35’ denotes 349cc and adverts may confuse it with an ETX 350 or Tuareg 6.35 Wind.
- Test the electric starter, battery, charging voltage, starter relay and grounds; a weak starting system can easily hide deferred maintenance elsewhere.
- Check oil level, oil leaks, valve train, carburettor and intake rubbers; air-cooled four-strokes of this age react poorly to old oil and stale fuel.
- Inspect brakes, spoked wheels, steering head, swingarm/linkage and rear shock for corrosion, play and perished rubber, especially on bikes used off road.
