Years

The original Japanese-built TT600 is the simplest and most dirt-focused version, with kick starting and a rear drum brake. Its tall seat and low weight reward an experienced rider at low speed.
The Yamaha TT 600 is an air-cooled single-cylinder enduro known since the 1980s for simple engineering, long-travel suspension and its close relationship to the XT600. Early TT600s are kick-start only and strongly off-road focused. Later TT600E, TT600R and TT600RE versions use different frames and suspension, and some add electric starting, so the riding experience varies noticeably between generations.
The TT 600 suits riders seeking a light, mechanically straightforward bike for back roads, trail routes and recreational off-road use. Vibration, wind exposure and modest braking reserves are apparent on motorways; this is not a modern adventure tourer. Parts support is generally reasonable, but many examples have been heavily used or modified. Carefully inspect frame numbers, wiring, exhaust, airbox and engine condition before buying.
