About the Suzuki GT 250
The Suzuki GT250 is an air-cooled 247 cc two-stroke parallel twin from the 1970s. Early Ram Air models use a distinctive cooling shroud above the cylinder head, six speeds and separate CCI oil injection. In 1978 the much lighter, sportier GT250 X7 arrived with revised engine, frame and disc brakes; despite the shared name it is a clearly different generation. Both deliver lively high-rev performance and characteristic two-stroke response.
The GT250 suits enthusiasts of lightweight classic sports motorcycles. Generation identification is essential for parts: verify frame and engine code, Ram Air shroud or X7 details. Measure compression on both cylinders and test crank seals, CCI oil pump and carburettors. Long storage can damage bearings and tank. Original exhausts, airbox, side panels and instruments are scarce; expansion chambers and tuning often reduce originality. Brakes and tyres need modern maintenance even when the bike is mainly collected.
