The Suzuki Bandit 400 (GSF400) is a Japanese naked bike powered by an air-cooled 399 cc inline four-cylinder engine. Produced from 1989 to 1997, it was available in Japan in two variants: the V (carburettor) and the VZ (with a GSXR-derived four-valve head). The Bandit 400 was popular as an entry-level bike for young riders who wanted the style and sound of a four-cylinder without the intimidation of a larger engine.
The Bandit 400 is an excellent first four-cylinder machine. With a seat height around 790 mm and a friendly power delivery, it is manageable even for shorter riders. In Europe it was often delivered with a power restrictor for the A2 licence category. It competes with the Honda CB400SF and Yamaha Diversion 400, but the Suzuki stands out for its slightly sportier character.
