About the Piaggio Beverly 500
The Piaggio Beverly 500 is the top version of the early Beverly generations: a large-wheel touring scooter with a liquid-cooled 460 cc four-stroke single, automatic CVT and the trademark 16-inch front wheel of the Beverly line. It launched in 2003 as the successor to the X9 500 and remained in production until around 2008. With roughly 39 hp it delivers enough output for sustained motorway riding, even with a pillion and luggage.
The Beverly 500 targets riders who want a scooter that also performs over longer distances. A full-face helmet fits under the seat, the windscreen is tall and the riding position is upright with good legroom. The large wheels roll calmly over rough surfaces and tram rails, an important advantage over small-wheel scooters. The trade-offs are noticeable single-cylinder vibration at idle and low revs, relatively thirsty fuel use in city traffic and extra weight compared with the Beverly 300, which makes tight parking slightly more demanding.
