About the Moto Guzzi V 35
The Moto Guzzi V 35 is a lightweight middleweight built around the brand's signature transverse 90-degree V-twin. Introduced in 1977 alongside the V 50, the 346 cc air-cooled engine drives the rear wheel through a five-speed gearbox and shaft drive, producing roughly 33 hp. Over its long production run that lasted until the late 1990s, the V 35 spawned numerous variants including the half-faired Imola, the Florida custom and the TT enduro. It cemented Guzzi's reputation for distinctive small-displacement V-twins with characterful engines and durable mechanicals.
The V 35 suits riders looking for an affordable, low-maintenance Italian classic with strong period charm. Its modest weight and seat height make it manageable in town and on relaxed back-road tours, while the shaft drive eliminates chain wear. It is not a highway tool; sustained motorway speeds are outside its comfort zone. On the used market the V 35 competes with other classic 350-500 cc twins of its era, and it appeals primarily to collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate vintage Italian engineering and the unmistakable look of a longitudinal Guzzi V-twin.

What to check before buying
- Inspect the electrical system (Bosch/Saprisa) for corrosion and poor earth points; a known weak spot on older Guzzis.
- Check the shaft drive and universal joint for play and oil weeping from the bevel housing.
- Look over the Dell'Orto PHBH carburettors for varnish and worn choke mechanism after long lay-up periods.
- Watch for rust in the fuel tank and on the mudguards; original paint and chrome have not always weathered well.
- Check the head and cylinder base gaskets for oil leaks; typical age-related wear on the air-cooled V-twin.
