About the Ktm 620 GS
The KTM 620 GS is an early large-capacity LC4 dual sport with a liquid-cooled single, tall suspension and clear off-road roots. In road-legal form it combines long travel and strong midrange pull with straightforward 1990s engineering. Its tall seat, vibration and limited wind protection reduce motorway comfort, but it suits secondary roads and gentle adventure use. Model designations and equipment vary by market, making correct identification important.
Check frame and engine numbers, homologation, build year and whether lighting, exhaust and wheels match the registered specification. Ask about oil and filter intervals, valve clearances, balancer, crank bearings, water pump and cam chain. Start it cold and listen for heavy knocking while checking smoke and crankcase pressure. Inspect airbox and intake for dust, radiators and cases for impacts, and frame, subframe and footrest mounts for cracks. Check fork seals, rear shock, linkage, steering head and wheels. Parts exist, although model-specific plastics and original instruments can be scarce.
