About the Kawasaki KM 100
The Kawasaki KM 100 is a lightweight 99 cc two-stroke trail/enduro motorcycle produced by Kawasaki from 1976 to 1981. The engine is an air-cooled single-cylinder two-stroke paired with a five-speed gearbox, intended for light off-road use and affordable commuting on paved roads. Weighing approximately 88 kg and straightforwardly engineered, it was highly accessible for young and inexperienced riders.
The KM 100 was sold in many countries as an entry point for teenage and novice riders. The engine is mechanically simple and relatively easy to maintain at home. Spare parts have become scarce, but a small and dedicated group of enthusiasts keeps KM 100s in running order. Today it is a niche classic, interesting to collectors of vintage lightweight Japanese motorcycles.

What to check before buying
- Check the piston and cylinder bore for wear; two-stroke engines are more prone to damage when two-stroke oil is neglected.
- Inspect the exhaust for corrosion and burn-through; original replacement parts are almost unobtainable.
- Check the carburettor for blockages and sealing; almost always an issue after years of standing.
- Check the headlight and wiring harness mounts for wear and damage; plastic components become brittle after decades.
